Position Overview
South Carolina Pediatric Alliance is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to join our pediatric healthcare team. This role will provide behavioral health support to children, adolescents, and families within a pediatric primary care setting.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in working with pediatric populations and will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and care teams to support patients’ emotional, behavioral, and developmental well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual counseling and behavioral health services to pediatric patients and their families.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Address common pediatric behavioral health concerns such as:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- ADHD
- Behavioral challenges
- Adjustment issues
- Family stressors
- Collaborate with pediatricians and healthcare staff to support integrated behavioral health care.
- Provide brief interventions, counseling, and coping strategies during or following pediatric visits.
- Offer parent guidance and family support related to behavioral or emotional concerns.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Coordinate referrals to community mental health resources or specialty services when appropriate.
- Participate in care team meetings and support care coordination.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of mental health–related CPT codes and other reimbursable behavioral health services to ensure appropriate documentation and billing.
Qualifications
- Active South Carolina license as one of the following:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related behavioral health field from an accredited program.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and families preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based pediatric environment.
- Experience in pediatric, primary care, or integrated behavioral health settings preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with brief behavioral health interventions in medical settings
- Knowledge of child development and family systems
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care
